Holiday Information

Travel by Air
Travelling by air is easiest and quickest - either Gatwick to Pisa, Stansted to Pisa, Bournemouth to Pisa approximately May to October.

From Pisa to Tavernelle by road takes approximately 1½ hours - exit at Aulla, just off La Spezia-Parma motorway.  There is a train service from Pisa to Aulla (one change of train at La Spezia).

There are other airports within reasonable distance also, for example Genova, Bologna, and Milan (Bergamo).

Travel via Euro Tunnel
Take car via Euro tunnel, and then travel through France and into Italy via the Alps.  Stay overnight in Dijon or somewhere halfway.  You can also take the car-train in Paris down to Nice.

Travel by Train
Take the Eurostar to Paris, change train at Paris to Milan, then Milan to La Spezia or Aulla (Aulla is nearest main market town about 10 kilometres away from Tavernelle).

Car Hire
We recommend that you hire one from the airport. We found that the local car hire was more hassle and didn't cost much less at the end of the day. Also the car was in rather poor condition, unlike those from the airport, which are nearly always virtually new.
